Fire
Fire was one of two foundation bitches, carefully selected to combine the best of old dual purpose Golden pedigrees, with above average hip soundness. Firebug was a strong working dog, with lots of desire and intensity, but a little distractable which led us to our focus on breeding extremely trainable dogs, manageable by the dedicated novice and family. We were very fortunate to start with such a correctly structured bitch, who continued to produce her excellent neck and shoulder layback, strong, hard topline and correct rear through many generations. Fire was one of 4 puppies in her litter, and while she was an OFA Fair, her littermates were all xrayed clear, with an Excellent and two Goods. Fire herself produced two OFA Excellents and all others puppies xrayed were OFA Good and led a long and completely healthy life till a month or two under age 13 when she was suddenly struck with liver cancer and euthanized.
We bred Firebug in three different directions and kept coownerships or breeding opportunities on all three, which gave us the opportunity to eventually keep a grand-daughter for our own breeding program (Spice), selected from Firebugs' overall soundest and most talented litter. We have continued this approach onwards, generally attempting to keep grand-daughters of our own bitches, which has allowed us to make tremendous progress in our breeding program over the past nearly 20 years.
Firebug was owner handled to nearly all her titles by Joanne, with occasional help in the showring by friends. Her true forte was tracking and she earned her Can TD in a driving wind and rain storm on the hills of Mt. Lehman, despite being in full standing season. She went on to easily complete her Am TD and TDX, passing first time, again on very challenging tracks and in record times.

Fire's 1st Litter (x Am CH Can OTCH Truly Sundasher Exacta Am UD JH WCX )
- Zaniri's Golden Rebel CD Can TDX JH WCI CDX "Colby" was owned by Karen & Barry Galbraith and lived to be nearly 15 years old. He was a wonderful obedience dog, earning the GRCBC Novice Cup for novice owner Barry.
- Can CH Zaniri's Lord Dufferin CD Can CD "Duffy" was owned by Judi and Gary Dunlop and again, took his novice owner into the life of Golden competition with his son Oz and later on Duffy's great grand-daughter Tess.
- Zaniri's Fresh Start For Deb CD "Springtime" was owned by Debbie Bouwkcamp (Aves) and enabled her to restart her Rockcreek breeding program, and eventually send a couple of her daughters home to B.C. for us to carry on with as this was overall Fire's best litter.
- Colabaughs Ember of Zaniri SH CDX TD originally owned by Janine Fiorito, then Fred Blair, she earned multiple titles and was a great hunting dog.

- Zaniri's Flash of Lightning Can CD WCI JH "Stryker" owned by Karen & Barry Galbraith and a super hunting dog along with a fun competitor.
- Zaniri's Flashfire Ranger Can CD WC JH "Ranger" owned by David Southerland who was his second home at 5 years of age. Ranger has now earned his JH and WC at 13 years of age and is carrying on with WCI training.
- Can CH Zaniri's Magnificant Fireball "Maggie" was owned by Christine and Rob Reid and had the wonderful distinction of being the only dog we have finished in a single weekend, first time shown, from 0 to 10 points on a cluster weekend.
